Found in the county of Bedfordshire, the town of Leighton Buzzard lies near the boundary betwixt Bucks and Beds, on the Grand Union Canal, the town has a resident population close to thirty seven thousand and a history extending back to Roman days, at which time the Roman built Watling Street (now the A-5) passed the town. The History of Leighton Buzzard: It is felt that there existed settlements in or around what is now called Leighton Buzzard stretching back to unrecorded times, historical artefacts and coinage picked up in the area show evidence of this fact. The olden Watling Street (erected by the Romans), now named the A5, passed through neighbouring Hockliffe and Dunstable roughly 2,000 in years past, and the Romans would have at the very least known of Leighton Buzzard during those times.

The Anglo-Saxons came after the Romans, and it was the Anglo-Saxons who used a market in around the 10th Century, and relics uncovered suggest that they were staying in the area possibly from the 6th Century. The village existing then wasn't observed till 906 when the Danes produced a peace treaty at Tiddenfoot, the 1086 Domesday Book recognized Leighton Manor.

The ecclesiastical parish of Leighton Buzzard, over the years, embodied a way wider area than just the town itself, and covered the hamlets of Billington, Heath & Reach, Stanbridge and Eggington. The "Leighton" in the town's name is thought to derived from the old English for "a clearing in the woods", the "Buzzard" portion wasn't added on up until the twelfth century when the Dean of Lincoln was required to differentiate it from an extra "Leighton" which he had inside his diocese. The Manors of Leighton would be tenanted to a variety of tenants through the years, such as the Leighs of Stoneleigh, who followed Charles I throughout the English Civil War (1642-1645).
