Found in the county of Beds in the East of England, the delightful town of Leighton Buzzard stands near to the county boundary in between Buckinghamshire and Beds, on the banks of the Grand Union Canal, Leighton Buzzard has a resident population of approximately 37,000 and a story extending back to the Roman era, when the Roman built Watling Street (now the A-5) passed by the town. Today Leighton Buzzard is coupled with the adjoining town of Linslade and it is roughly midway between Milton Keynes (Buckinghamshire) and Luton, it lays close to the Chilterns and has a vital sand quarrying industry.

Leighton Buzzard Through the Ages: It is considered that there existed settlements in or around what is now called Leighton Buzzard harping back to unrecorded times, ancient artifacts and coins stumbled upon nearby give evidence of this. The "Leighton" in the name appears to come from the old English for "a clearing in the woods", the "Buzzard" piece was not appended till the 12th Century after the Dean of Lincoln found it beneficial to differentiate it from another "Leighton" that was within his diocese. The Manors of Leighton were leased to numerous tenants over the centuries, such as the Leighs of Stoneleigh, who backed Charles I during the Civil War (1642-1645).
